Congratulations to Dr. Canuto, SUDECC collaborator. This is a great contribution. Dr. Canuto publication on climate resilience and renewable energy in Brazil offers invaluable lessons: it shows how distributed solar power and "nanogrids" kept the lights on during flooding, precisely when centralized grids collapsed.
This speaks directly to those living on storm-vulnerable coasts and in regions where hydropower is losing strength in the face of climate change. And let's not forget: no renewable energy project should move forward without free, prior, and informed consent, or without the genuine participation — as partners — of the territorial governments of our coastal, Black, Indigenous, and Garífuna communities.
